Cumin seeds/jeera -2 tsp
Asafoetida /Hing -1/2 tsp
Butter -50 g (4 tbsp)
Salt -to taste
Water -as required

STEP BY STEP MAKING OF MULLU MURUKKU

Dry roast 1 cup moong dal /yellow split dal in a kadai /vessel.Once it cools grind in mixer to fine powder and also sieve it well.(We will need half of powder remaining you can store in box and keep for afteruse)

Now we shall measure two glasses of rice flour and take in a mixing bowl.(I have used steel glass here)..

We shall take 2 tsp cumin seeds and 1/2 tsp of asafoetida powder /hing.

Now we shall measure 1/2 glass of moong dal /split dal powder and add to bowl.Add salt to taste.
(Remember there would be salt in butter too).

Add 4 tbsp gramflour / besan and around 50 g butter to the mixture.

Mix together and by adding little by little water make a soft dough.

This must be the consistency of dough not too watery nor too hard.

Now take little portion of dough in a murukku mould and with its help press the dough  in hot oil.

Let it cook in medium heat till both sides are cooked and become crisp.

Once cooked take out from hot oil and drain out excess oil.

Crispy Murukku is ready.Once cooled store  in air tight container and eat for weeks.
