Cham Cham

 Chamcham  (A sweet made of paneer /Chena) Good day everyone!! Today sharing a sweet dish made of paneer .Its a famous Bengali sweet which I have eaten in restaurants many times . So one fine day I thought of trying this sweet in my kitchen. I don't know if I really got that authentic taste or not but I can assure you that these sweets tasted yum .The two highlights of this sweet that I made is that firstly I used toned milk to make paneer/cheese and secondly I made homemade mava with milk powder (this recipe I shall share later).I didn't have dry coconut powder so I used fresh scraped coconut and dry roasted in a Kadai . INGREDIENTS Toned Milk - 1 Litre  Sugar - 1 cup  Water - 4 cups  Homemade mava -For filling  Tutti Frutti - For topping Dry coconut -1 tbsp (for topping) STEP BY STEP RECIPE  Boil 1 toned Litre milk (toned or full cream). Peanut Laddoo

  Healthy  Jaggery-Peanut Laddoos. Good day everyone!! Today sharing another laddoo recipe which needs very few ingredients and can be made in a jiffy.Best part of this recipe is we are not going to use sugar but use healthier jaggery instead.It will be a good  school snack or evening snack for kids or adults with sweet tooth .I have another peanut recipe in my blog which is a traditional one .You can find it in menu with title "Types of Laddoos". INGREDIENTS Peanuts-1 big steel glass Jaggery/Gud -1 or 3/4 big steel glass crushed jaggery Ghee - 1 tbsp (for flavour)(optional) Roasted Sesame seeds -1/4 glass +1 tbsp Powdered Cardamon /ilaichi - 2 tsp Step by step process Measure 1 big steel  glass peanuts.Dry roast them in a kadai/wok.Take out the skin and let cool. Masala Dosa

MASALA DOSA Today's dinner everyone's favourite butter topped Masala dosa with sambar and onion & tomato chutney. Recipe For dosa- Clean ,wash and soak 2 cups boiled rice,1 cup raw rice together .In another vessel soak  3/4 cup urad Dal ,2 tsp methi seeds for 4 hours.After 4 hours grind finely in mixie.Let it ferment for 4 hrs to 5 hrs.Add salt to batter mix well.Add little water to adjust consistency. For masala Heat oil.Add 2 tsp mustard seeds,a pinch of hing,1 chopped onion,1 tsp chopped ginger,2 -3 green chillies chopped,curry leaves,1/2 chopped capsicum,2 tbsp chopped carrots,peas and saute for a while.Add turmeric powder,chilli powder,coriander powder, little salt and cook for sometime.Add 1 chopped tomato.Let it cook.Add 4-5 boiled potatoes,salt to taste, coriander leaves.Mix well.masala ready. Dharwad Peda

 DHARWAD PEDA Tried making the famous Karnataka sweet - Dharwad peda .It tasted very good. Recipe- Make paneer with 1 litre milk.(Full cream is best but I used toned milk) After 10 min take the paneer in a nonstick pan. Add 1 tbsp ghee and 3 tbsp sugar. Keep roasting till the colour of paneer changes to dark brown.It may take 10-12 minutes in low flame . Also Keep adding 3 -4 tbsp milk after some intervals. Once the paneer changes colour let it cool and grind in mixie. Again take the powder in pan and roast for 5 more minutes.Add 3 tbsp milk and 1 tbsp sugar. After 5 minutes make shapes with the mixture when it's warm. Coat the shapes with powdered sugar. Bitter Gourd Sambar

 BITTER GOURD SAMBAR/KARELA SAMBAR Good day friends, Today I am going to share a recipe of sambar made with bitter gourd.This vegetable not everyone's favourite but in our family we all like it .Even kids who generally throw tantrums or are choosy with veggies will enjoy to eat this sambar. Recipe for 4-5 people INGREDIENTS Tuvar Dal /Pigeon peas-1/2 cup Bitter Gourd/Karela -2 (medium sized) Tamarind - a small lemon size (soaked in water for 10-15 minutes) Coconut-2 tbsp grated Tomatoes-1 Turmeric-2 tsp Sambar powder- 2 tbsp Salt to taste Curry leaves Oil-2 tsp Mustard seeds/sarson-2 tsp Asafoetida/hing-1/2 tsp Recipe -: Wash and chop 2 bitter gourd into small pieces. Rinse the lentil/Dal .Add enough water. Add the chopped bitter gourd,a pinch of turmeric and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles. Add tamarind water to cooked Dal and gourd mixture,add 2 tbsp sambar powder,1 tsp turmeric,add little water to adjust consistency and let it boil for 5-6 minutes. Grind coconut and tomato finely...

Sweet Pongal

SHAKKARPONGAL / SWEET PONGAL Good day friends , I prepared Shakkarapongal / sweet pongal.A South Indian delicious sweet dish most importantly prepared during Pongal.Its also prepared as prasadam /prasad on special occasions at every South Indian homes and temples.It is one of my most favourite dish.I even don't mind standing in queue to get sweet pongal as prasadam in temples. Ingredients-: Raw Rice - 1/2 cup Moong Dal dhuli / Pasiparappu - 4-5 tbsp Jaggery / Gud / Vellam - 1/2 cup  ( depends on sweetness you want) Cashews and raisins - around 10 Cardamon - 2 Ghee / Clarified butter - 1/4 cup  + 1 tbsp  Recipe -  Dry roast 4-5 tbsp moongDal  in a kadai / vessel.Wash and clean 1/2 cup rice.Mix Dal and rice ,add 2 cups water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.In another vessel take  1/2 cup jaggery and add little water.When the jaggery get dissolved strain the mixture.Again heat the jaggery syrup and add boiled rice and Dal mixture well.Add ...

Shakkarpare /Sweet Nimki c                             Hello friends, Today I am going to share with you recipe of sweet nimki or shakkarpare .This recipe also I learnt from my mother in law. The market shakkarpare is made very thick but we prepare it like general nimkis and dip in sugar syrup.For making dough you can add butter,ghee or oil .My mom-in -law generally uses butter to make snacks so I used Amul butter to make this dish.You can use butter of any brand.You can also avoid pinch of salt when adding salty butter. It is generally said that little salt enhances the sweetness of any sweet dish.This recipe is simple and easy but you will need patience to fry nimkis in medium heat till brown and crisp.The sugar syrup must be 1 string or less than that but you should not put the nimkis in syrup as soon as sugar dissolves as the nimkis will not remain crisp in such case.It will become soggy a...

COCONUT SEEDAI A savoury dish prepared during Janmashtami in every Tamil household is the crispy uppu seedai .Today I will be sharing a recipe of Uppu seedai which I have named as ''Coconut seedai '' because of use of coconut in it.This recipe I learnt from my mother-in-law.She is from Palakkad in Kerala and she prepares this as she has has seen her grandmother do it.So once again a traditional South Indian recipe which is prepared by my mother in law at your disposal.Although this recipe is easy many a times people complain of this seedai bursting in oil and causing blisters on our body.To avoid such situations  you have to follow some instructions.Firstly sieve the rice flour (home made or store brought) two three times.There must not be any lump in flour.Believe me by following simple measures you will be getting crispy  savouries  ie seedai.As I said earlier this recipe is prepared in Janmashtami but you can also prepare it on usual days and serve as e...
