Potato Chop/Aaloo Chop





Hi friends,
Hereby sharing one of the most important evening snack of the Eastern part of India.Aaloo chop is most sought of snack alongwith   samosas or singharas(as they are called there).This is  my way of preparing it with a little bit of innovation.It did come well with crispy outside texture and soft inside.

Ingredients

Potatoes/Aaloo-1/2 kg
Onions(Medium)-2
Green chillies/Hari mirch-4
Grated Ginger /Adrak-1 small piece
Grated Garlic /Lahsun-4-5
Cumin Seeds / Jeera-1 tsp
Red chilli powder / Lal mirch-1 tsp + 2 tsp
Turmeric / Haldi -1 tsp + 1 tsp
Cumin  powder / Jeera powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder / Dhaniya powder -1 tsp
Garam masala -1 tsp
Chat masala-1 tsp
Coriander leaves/Dhaniya patta - a little
Besan -1 cup
Cooking soda -a pinch
Oil -1 tbsp + for deep  frying
Salt to taste
Water as needed





                        Boil potatoes .Then chop onions and chillies .Grate ginger and garlic .



                                                     Heat oil and add cumin seeds.



                                         
     Add onions .Saute a little and when it turns pink add green chillies ,grated garlic and ginger.

                               
                                         


When onions and  chillies are fried little add dry spices one by one .Add turmeric,cumin powder,dhaniya powder,sabji masala and saute them well.




                               When the masala is fried well add boiled potatoes .Add salt and mix well.





 Add garam masala and chaat masala and mix them all well.


                                   



                    Lastly add coriander leaves .Mix well .Potato filling ready.





Make patties  with potato filling .Dust them with little besan.


To make batter take besan in a vessel .Add turmeric powder,Chilli powder,salt,soda.Add water little by little.The batter must not be very thick nor very watery .We must be able to coat the patties with the batter conveniently.






                                        Dip the patties in besan batter and put in hot oil.




Deep fry in oil.






                       Take out crispy  slightly yellowish ,brownish deep fried aaloo chops on a tissue paper

                                          



                                                      Aaloo chops ready to be eaten .
                                             





                                          Serve hot with tomato sauce or chutney of your choice.
