MOONG DAL PAYASAM/PAITHE PARAPPU PAYASAM/CHER PARAPPU PAYASAM






A yummy dessert made with Moong dal /Green gram and jaggery.Generally made as naivedyam during fasting days.Prepared during festive days like Vaikunta ekadasi,Maha Shivratri when salt is generally avoided.You can also prepare anytime for your sweet tooth.




INGREDIENTS
Moong Dal /split green gram - 1 cup
Jaggery /Gud - 1 cup
Cashews and Raisins - As per taste
Cardamon -2
Water -2 cups
Milk- 1 cup
Scraped Coconut - 2 tbsp


Process -

Dry roast 1 cup Moong dal /Green gram in a kadai.


                                         







            Add 2 cups water and pressure cook in cooker up to 2 whistles.





The dal has got cooked well








                           
                   

                                     Now roast cashews and raisins with 1 table spoon ghee.Keep aside.


                                       






                                           







                                          Now dissolve 1 cup jaggery in 1/2 cup water.


                                         







                                                The jaggery has dissolved well.



                               

                                      Strain jaggery syrup for impurities.



Once again add this strained jaggery syrup in kadai.




Add boiled dal /lentil.




Add cardamon powder and scraped coconut.







Add milk.It will be better to add milk just before serving.



Add roasted cashews and raisins.Moong dal payasam is ready.



Serve hot or cold.

SHAKKARPONGAL / SWEET PONGAL Good day friends , I prepared Shakkarapongal / sweet pongal.A South Indian delicious sweet dish most importantly prepared during Pongal.Its also prepared as prasadam /prasad on special occasions at every South Indian homes and temples.It is one of my most favourite dish.I even don't mind standing in queue to get sweet pongal as prasadam in temples.
