RADISH SAMBHAR

RADISH SAMBHAR/MOOLI SAMBHAR/MULANGI SAMBHAR







Sambhar is  made with different vegetables .The one made with radish is umatched and really tastes yum .The process to make it is also simple .You can make tangy,hot,spicy sambhar in some minutes with readily available ingredients.

Serves-4


Ingredients

Radish/Mooli/Moolangi -1
Pigeon peas /Tuvar dal -1/2 cup
Tamarind -small lemon sized
Tomatoes-2
Sambhar powder -2 tbsp
Turmeric-2 tsp
Coconut -1/4 cup
Curry leaves-few
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
Asafoetida/hing -a pinch
Oil-1 tsp
Water -as required
Salt -to taste

PROCESS

                                  Clean ,peel and cut one radish to thin  round hapes.



         

                                             Soak tamarind in water for 10 -15 minutes.

                                       



                                       




Now take 1/2 cup of pigeon pea dal /tuvar dal .Rinse with water .Then we shall add one cup of water,sliced radish turmeric and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.(It may vary upon one's cooker )






                                                 The lentils and radish have got cooked well.




      Now add tamarind water,sambhar powder and salt to taste.Let the sambhar boil for 5-6 minutes.

                                          



                                            



                                            


                                                

                                  Grind tomatoes and coconut to fine paste.







                                    Add to sambhar and let it cook for five more minutes.




Temper with mustard seeds,a pinch of asafoetida and curry leaves.







                                           






                                       Serve hot with rice,idli,dosa ,upma etc.



I have served it with rice and vegetables.

SHAKKARPONGAL / SWEET PONGAL Good day friends , I prepared Shakkarapongal / sweet pongal.A South Indian delicious sweet dish most importantly prepared during Pongal.Its also prepared as prasadam /prasad on special occasions at every South Indian homes and temples.It is one of my most favourite dish.I even don't mind standing in queue to get sweet pongal as prasadam in temples.
