BROKEN WHEAT UPMA






Broken wheat upma/cracked wheat upma /dalia upma/lapsi upma is a healthy recipe for breakfast or dinner.Sometimes the lunch is heavy and we want to settle for light dinner then this upma is right up there in cooking list.By adding little veggies you can make it healthier and colourful.The best part is children too will love to  have them .In this method I have used pressure cooker to prepare Dalia upma.I feel we all  have  to spend less time in kitchen with optimum results.Hope you will like my way of preparing it.

INGREDIENTS

BROKN WHEAT /DALIA/LAPSI -1 BIG STEEL GLASS
CHOPPED ONIONS-1
CHOPPED TOMATOES-1
CHOPPED CARROTS-1/4 CUP
CHOPPED CAULIFLOWER-1/ CUP
CHOPPED GREEN CHILLIES-3-4
PEAS -1/4 CUP
CURRY LEAVES
CORIANDER LEAVES
CLARIFIED BUTTER /GHEE -1 TBSP(OPTIONAL)
GRATED GINGER-1 TSP
MUSTARD SEEDS/SARSON-2 TSP
BLACK SPLIT GRAM/URAD DAL DHULI-2 TSP
BENGAL GRAM/ CHANA DAL -2 TSP
OIL -1 TBSP
WATER -AS NEEDED
SALT -TO TASTE

Serves-4
Preparation time -10 minutes
Cooking time -15 -20  minutes


QUICK RECIPE UPDATE
In a pressure cooker heat oil.Add mustard seeds,urad dal,chana dal.Saute for a second .Add chopped onions,ginger ,green chillies.Once onions are cooked add chopped cauliflower, carrots,tomatoes,curry leaves.Saute till veggies get cooked .Add dalia .Saute all together for two minutes.Then add double the water.Add salt,chopped coriander leaves,ghee.Mix all and pressure cook for two whistles.Dalia Upma ready.Serve with curd,chutney ,pickles of your choice.

Heat oil .Add mustard seeds,black splt gram and bengal gram 2 tsp each.




                         Add grated ginger,green chillies,chopped onions.



             Once onions get cooked add chopped carrots,cauliflower,tomatoes,peas,curry leaves.


                                         


                                       Add little salt for veggies to get cooked faster.





                                        Once veggies get cooked add Broken wheat /Dalia.






                             Roast Dalia for two to three minutes then add double water of dalia taken.




       Add salt to taste and coriander leaves and 1 tbsp og ghee .Mix all together.



                                                     Pressure cook for two whistles.


                                                    Broken wheat upma / Dalia upma is ready .

                                     



                                         You can serve this upma with chutney ,curd or just pickles.

  CHOCOLATE MUFFINS  Good day all, After some time posting again .Today sharing recipe of chocolate muffins .I made this using normal flour this time and it came very good.Next time I will try making this using Whole-wheat flour. This recipe requires very few ingredients and can be made really fast too.
