TOMATO RICE







Today sharing an easy rice based dish called Tomato Rice.If you have left over rice for the evening or morning you can very easily prepare this dish.You can prepare this dish as a change to break the monotony of eating plain rice and dal .This recipe is a good lunchbox recipe too not taking much time and nor  requiring many ingredients.You can serve this dish with papad.

INGREDIENTS
BOILED RICE -1&1/2 CUPS
TOMATOES -2
ONIONS -2
GREEN CHILLIES -2-3
GINGER -A SMALL PIECE
MUSTARD SEEDS(SARSON)-1 TSP
BENGAL GRAM (CHANA DAL)-1 TSP
BLACK SPLIT GRAM (URAD DAL )-1 TSP
CHILLI POWDER -1/2 TSP
TURMERIC /HALDI -1 TSP
ASAFOETIDA (HING) -A PINCH
SALT -TO TASTE
SALT -TO TASTE

STEP BY STEP PROCESS OF MAKING TOMATO RICE



   We shall chop onions ,tomatoes and green chillies to small pieces and grate ginger,



                    

          Now heat oil in wok /kadai .Add 1 tsp each of mustard seeds,bengal gram,black split gram and a pinch of asafoetida and saute for 1/2 a minute.





                        Add chopped onions,green chillies , grated ginger and curry leaves.


Add turmeric powder ,chilli powder and little salt to cook onions faster.



Once onions are cooked add chopped tomatoes.Close the lid to cook tomatoes well.


Once the tomatoes are cooked well add boiled rice .Add salt to taste.Mix slowly .If you have hot rice switch off the gas and then stir the rice in masala but if your rice is leftover stir the mixture in heat till the rice becomes warm .Try not to  mash the rice while stirring.









                               Add chopped coriander leaves.Tomato rice is ready .


                                                             Serve hot with papad.

Sweet Pongal

SHAKKARPONGAL / SWEET PONGAL Good day friends , I prepared Shakkarapongal / sweet pongal.A South Indian delicious sweet dish most importantly prepared during Pongal.Its also prepared as prasadam /prasad on special occasions at every South Indian homes and temples.It is one of my most favourite dish.I even don't mind standing in queue to get sweet pongal as prasadam in temples.
